Boulder Media

Junior editor

August 2017 - present

I joined Boulder Media, an award-winning animation studio in Dublin, in the summer of 2017 as the Junior Editor of a new Hasbro television series "Micronauts".

My responsibilities as Junior Editor include editing the boards I receive from the story boarding artists to create animatics. I include dialogue, sound effects and music and work on the timings of panels and drawings to help bring the episode to life.

I work closely on these edits with episodic directors as well as the production director. I get feedback from production on the exports and work with their notes to satisfy their requirements.

I also assemble the animated clips I receive from the animation department and work with the director to finalize timings and the overall episode before it gets sent for the online edit out of house.

It has been an incredible experience to work with my team to bring our show from script to screen. This role has been a great opportunity to develop my skills, become comfortable with different softwares, and explore my creativity in bringing a show to life.

During my time with Egg, I took on a number of roles including Junior Colorist and Assistant Editor.

October 2014 - July 2017

My role as Junior Colourist included conforming and prepping projects for the Senior Colourist and dealing with any problems which may arise. With this role, I also took on the responsibility of restoring archive footage from Ireland's national broadcaster RTÉ, which involved cleaning and grading film footage from the likes of the 1916 Rising.

I also had the opportunity to work with a number of clients on a variety of different projects. I graded my share of projects including television shows for RTÉ (The Pet Surgeons, IFTA nominated Road to Rio) and a number of short films, which went on to be a part of popular festivals around the country (Neon, Tuesday Night).

With all these projects, I worked with directors and other clients and developed a very close and collaborative relationship with many of them.

October 2014 - July 2017

In my role as Assistant Editor, I would ingest and transcode media for several projects as they come to us, and sync the audio to picture and name the clips and give them a description as necessary. I would set up projects and bring the required media into the project for the editors so everything was ready for them to work with as they needed it.

I worked with many different editors during my time there, so I had to adapt to their style and workflow and work with whatever software they chose, whether it be Avid, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Final Cut 8/X.
